Northeast Residents Seek End to Junk Dealers Stopping Refuse Wagons
Citizens in the northeast petitioned city commissioners to ban junk dealers from stopping refuse collection wagons on route to the dumps. Health department officials back the move, saying the practice is unsanitary and dangerous as dealers swap goods from wagons, exposing the public to disease germs and cluttered streets with children at play. The proposed remedy is to force wagons to go directly to the dumps after final collection.
