Special to The Washington Post from Woodstock Virginia reports Tye Haun proprietor of a Harrisonburg garage Layton Pulvey Misses Sable Mina Pulver children of Rockingham County Superintendent Pulvey and Robert Howera all of Harrisonburg were seriously injured when their automobile van wrecked three miles south of Woodstock. The car skidded on a curve and after two wheels were demolished turned over.
A masked dance by the Girls' Club was held Thursday evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Brown on Georgia avenue with autumn decor of leaves pumpkins and cornstalks. Attendees included Dora Heine Marion Williams Marie Pavetts Bernice Conway Marian Brown Kathryn Brill Flossie Schweitzer Lottie Brown Lydia Payette Margaret Brown and several Brown family members. Chaperons were Mrs. G. T. Brown and Mrs. Conway. Also noted was the marriage of Frances Marie Potzler and Clement A. Giebel occurring Tuesday at 2:30 AM.
The Rev Leo Otter performed the ceremony at St Marys Church in a service attended by many relatives and friends. The bride wore a pearl trimmed gown with a tulle veil and carried white roses. Miss Anna M Potzier, maid of honor, wore pink crepe de chine with cream net and carried Killarney roses. Best man was Mr Joseph Giebel with ushers Mr William Ostman and Mr Adam Giebel. A reception followed at the bride’s parents home on G Street. The couple planned a honeymoon to Baltimore Philadelphia Chicago New York and Atlantic City and would reside at 218 Ninth Street Northeast after November 15. Miss Esther Whiting gave a farewell tea for Miss Margaret Fechteler. Mr and Mrs Richard P D Mohin, recently at Hotel Powhatan, left for Warrenton Virginia. Miss Louise ONeill left for Boston for an extended visit.
Lieut. Gen Adnan Chaffee retired chief of staff of the U S Army dies at his Los Angeles home of typhoid pneumonia. Body to be taken to Washington for Arlington burial. A veteran of the Civil War and later chief of the general staff, he rose from private to lieutenant general and served as head of the Los Angeles water board after retirement. He married Annie Francis Rockwell in 186? and left behind Mrs Kaff ee and several children.
Prince Alexander of Teck brother of Queen Mary serving with Belgian headquarters staff, suffered eye injuries when a horse dismounted officer swung his foot over the saddle striking both eyes. The report notes the mishap occurred during his duties and that he remains under care.

New York, Nov 1. Prince Paul de Clairmont, actor and self described hero of the novel Three Weeks, was found dead in a West Side rooming house. A coroner’s physician said death resulted from self act on a sandwich with poison found nearby. A well dressed woman identified as his wife appeared before the body was found and later discarded a tin into a street ash barrel. De Clairmont, who had recently toured Europe, had faced a jewelry larceny charge last year from which he was acquitted.
Washington dispatch reports Miss Gladys Hinckley says French fashion houses sent nearly all their leading dressmakers to the front at the first call. She notes Rue de la Paix shops closed or run by assistants and cites Wagner of Creers as mobilizing for war while his wife aids Red Cross.
