Hoover Sees Trade Associations Unite After War
Herbert Hoover told 600 American Wholesale Grocers that wartime cooperation with the food administration showed collective action by trade associations can stabilize postwar business. He urged modification of Sherman act rules linking associations to a government program, while stressing public interest as essential. Prices rise signal gains for agriculture, with cotton and corn belts improving and farmers becoming more efficient, aided by plant improvement and better farm management.
