Two Washington stock troupes swap theaters this week
On Monday June the two prominent stars Guy Standing and Miss Charlotte Walker shift venues. Standing and his Black Company move from the Belasco to the Columbia under Fred G. Berger, while Walker opens a supplementary Belasco season with a special stock company under William A. Page. The Washington scene will host rival yet friendly stock programs as Mrs Walker returns here with plans for weekly new roles and Belasco personal oversight. Seats for Walker’s first week go on sale at the Belasco box office. Standing’s “Imprudence” advance sales begin at the Heketom Theatre box.

A reflective reminiscence contrasts a boy fleeing home to seek freedom with wartime paranoia. The narrator recalls craving escape and a march toward a cranberry bog shelter before dawn. The piece pivots to a satirical garden scene where sanitized fears about microbes are caricatured by a family.

One County Without a Railroad Remains
Routt County loses its unique claim as the only Colorado county without rail service as the Moffat road crosses the county line and connects Colorado's rail network, reducing the number of such counties to one. The Denver road expansion has eroded similar distinctions in recent years.
