Legislator Sessions Charge Rail Syndicate Opposing Alaska Railroads
Delegate Wickersham told the Senate territories committee that a transportation company coalition opposes government railroad construction in Alaska. He named Copper River and Northwestern, White Pass and Yukon, Alaskan, Pacific Coast Steamship, and H B Ryan of the Controller Bay Navigation Company, saying Morgan and Guggenheim interests are involved in Alaska moves. A constitutional amendment proposal seeks direct one term for President and VP, not blocking past candidates. Fitzpatrick proposes a $2,500 fund to transport Union and Confederate veterans to Gettysburg for the semicentennial in July.
