Trial on Two Counts in Fields Embezzlement Case Near End

Trial of Thomas M. Fields, charged with embezzling about $16,000 from the Washington Beneficial Endowment Association, will likely end today with only two of eight counts left for jurors. Judge Wright permitted a verdict on one remaining count and excluded others, as evidence showed Fields sought to take blame for the missing funds. Letters read in court showed an agreement with a co-receiver to have Fields assume responsibility, and Lipscomb exoneration letters were introduced. Witnesses testified about delivery of funds and related transfers, while defense objected to some evidence and offered counter-testimony.
