Guts Out Electricity Call Asks For Details In DC Contract

Chairman Tawney of the Appropriations Committee blocks merits discussion as a sundry civil bill provision for a ten year contract to supply all government buildings in the District of Columbia with light and power is stricken on a point of order by Representative Gaines. The move would have set prices at 0.5 cents per kilowatt hour for the first million kilowatt hours and 2.12 cents thereafter. Tawney notes the clause could be reintroduced in the general deficiency appropriations bill if not added by the Senate, claiming potential overall savings though no discussion followed.
