Elected Officers and Union Move at Columbia Heights Meeting
A heated gathering elected second vice president by the insurgents and third vice by the regulars. Mr Dowell sought the higher salary, learning neither post paid notably, and chose to align with the regulars, winning by acclamation. Regular ballots were used due to strong opposition, with H G Clark and others as tellers, and Ram sey and Rowle as election judges. Applause marked the result as progressives joined the regulars, and all elections were unanimous. District leaders urged taxpayers to unite and influence Congress. Citizens Association members like Judge Bundy and P Shoemaker spoke, aiming to expand district influence and membership swelled to 250 with new appointees.

Abandons Search For Head In Dr Gray Case
The coroner’s jury ruled accidental death in the decapitated body found in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal near Twenty Eighth Street north west. The headless body of Dr William A Gray, last seen leaving Georgetown University Hospital March 1, was recovered from the canal and the head has not been found. Police and detectives say no evidence explains the movements after the doctor left the hospital and believe he drowned near where his body was discovered, the head removed by a dredging machine.
