Women Demand Death Penalty for Nathaniel Green in Grant Case
Washington society women petition the Court of Appeals to uphold the death penalty for Nathaniel Green, the man convicted of assaulting Mrs. Adelaide Grant on Christmas Eve. They argue for protection of American womanhood and the home, noting Green was twice reprieved and that the case hinges on technicalities in the District code. Green pleaded guilty but was tried after a court rejected the plea, the jury sentenced him to hang, and a stay was issued pending appeal. the Court of Appeals meets Monday to decide the next step.
