Enormous Profits Indicated in Sale of Teachers Registers
Richmond Va March 3 Secretary Frank P Brent of the State board of education said today the board will reply to charges by J D Eggleston Jr claiming Virginia patrons pay high prices for teachers registers. The registers are printed by J L Hill Printing Co of Richmond. Lowest price for bulk is 6 cents, regular price 75 cents. Firms offer 18 to 25 cents per copy. The multiple list has raised book costs vs other states, affecting the campaign for superintendent. Gov Montague opposed the multiple list. Two candidates favor single list: J D Eggleston and George A Harvey. John A McGilvray has not spoken. Col Joseph E Willard also backs the single list. This stance will feature in the race.
