A major blaze yesterday caused seven alarms in seven hours across F Street, damaging multiple business places and inflicting losses around 322 010 dollars. The Northeast section saw frequent blazes amid suspicions of incendiary origin as officials launched an investigation. A separate kitchen fire at a Chinese restaurant roasted twenty geese and ducks.

Seven alarms for fire within as many hours last night caused about 1850 in damage and kept District firemen busy until near midnight. A third floor photographer's gallery and Vogue haberdashery were among the blaze sites and a family narrowly escaped, aided by firemen as smoke filled the building. Deputy Chief Proctor will lead a thorough investigation into the fires, believed incendiary in origin for the last three.

Special to The Washington Post Philadelphia March 28. University Hospital patient Harry P. Brown Jr a University of Pennsylvania student donated blood to save a dying woman in a surgical transfusion. Six weeks later he developed blood poisoning and lies in critical condition. No ill effects appeared until last Thursday after the voluntary donation.
In San Diego harbor the US naval tug Navajo's Chief Boatswain Nygaard, deranged, forced crew below deck and fired a pistol, fearing mutiny. Wireless reports claimed mutiny and insanity. A boarding party from the West Virginia seized Nygaard and brought him to the flagship for examination.
A French air stunt ended in disaster when Cel, flying a Caudron with a five cylinder Anzani engine, crashed after engine failure near Puteaux. He died shortly after being recovered. Earlier, Vedrine completed a Paris to Poitiers flight and Wynmalen piloted a Chalons to Issy cross, 106 miles, during the same day.
An English Turner canvas titled Now for the Painter sold in New York for 200000 to an American collector. The work shows a cross channel boat in wind near Calais as a heavy sea breaks on the beach. This marks the fourth Turner purchased by Americans this year, with buyers including Mrs. W. W. Kimball of Chicago and P. A. B. Widener of Philadelphia.

Mexico City report says Diaz may resign if peace is restored, as new younger ministers are sworn in before Diaz and Salado Alvares. Vice President Ramon Corral expected to request a leave of absence when Congress meets, with a likely resignation hinted due to health. Corral plans to depart April 12 for Europe.

Rumors Republicans may back Thomas M Osborne and insurgents support may push leaders to end the deadlock.
Two horse thieves, Walter Howard and Burt Franklin, barricaded in a house and hostage to a ruse. Deputies, aided by bloodhounds, pursued them to a dry well where a voice from below surrendered after the windlass was used. Searches uncovered certified checks totaling $47,000.
Philip J Roche a former street saloonkeeper was acquitted in US police court of making a handbook on the races after a three day trial marked by dramatic courtroom exchanges. Fred Kipp of East Greenbush, despondent after the deaths of his wife and daughter, set fire to his house and barn in Albany Nova Scotia last night. He crawled into the stable with his horses and perished. A neighbor found his charred body. A mailbox note read I did this on account of her.
England ends its public viewing of Rembrandt’s landscape The Mill as it departs for shipment to New York next week. The buyer is P. A. B. Widener of Philadelphia, not Henry C. Frick as early reports claimed.
Capt Raleigh White Hobson, veteran of the Confederate army and longtime worker with the general post office department in the city, died yesterday at Homeopathic Hospital after a surgical operation. He had been ill for a long time. He was admitted February 13 and, despite attempts to save him, did not recover.
