Concession to Georgetown To End Rock Creek Dumping
After years of agitation Georgetown will gain relief from ashes and street sweepings dumped along Rock Creek. Engineers propose covering dumps with sweepings to allow vegetation on the slope. Beginning April 1, machine sweepings and material from unimproved streets will be dumped along Connecticut Avenue extended, ending dumps on the city side bank. About 12 000 cubic yards may be used on the Georgetown bank along Dumbarton Avenue, plus a narrow spine below N Street for hand sweeping.
