Bergdoll Trial Highlights Kidnapping Plot in Germany
Grover Bergdoll testified in a German court as Carl Neuf and Frank Zimmer stand trial for efforts to capture him at Eberbach last January. Zimmer fired at Bergdoll during the attempted kidnapping and Neuf claimed German police aided American detentions in unoccupied Germany. The American Legion urged Secretary Weeks to secure Bergdoll’s return and to obtain release of two American sergeants.
