New Bill Aims to Split Washington Railway and Potomac Electric
Washington President's sanitary committee reports findings of interlocking directorates between Washington Railway and Electric Company and Potomac Electric Power Company. Probe found a 1 million dollar stock transfer and preferred power contracts, prompting a congressional bill to sever ties and require cost transparency. The measure targets all street railways in the District owning or controlling electric generation or sales interests. It argues that divestiture would lower light and power costs for city consumers.
