In a New York interview, John D. Rockefeller condemns overcapitalization of railroads and other major companies. He advocates English corporate practice, cautions that U.S. markets permit risky stocks, and urges capital at legitimate value with public confidence in corporations. No Gold On Fixtures Per Pound Rule Mystifies Bidders
Testimony before the Pennsylvania Capitol investigation reveals lacquered electric fixtures instead of the specified mercurial gold finish. John Maene of Philadelphia, designer for Pennsylvania Bronze Co., says mercurial fixtures would cost far more and many fixtures were too heavy. Representatives of Strawbridge & Clothier testified they bid by items rather than as a whole and knew nothing of a per foot rule. It was disclosed Sanderson was paid 137600 for electric fixture models not in the official schedule.
