GARRARD 18 cleared worth Kane and on September 19 announced the youth passed his examination for promotion. On October 14, 1911, Bloom was assigned to the Sixth Field Artillery at Fort Riley Kansas with a commission as second lieutenant. As controversy arose it emerged that in 1908 Bloom sought West Point and Simon Wolf met with President Roosevelt, who declined the order and advised enlisting as a private.
