Diploma Factory Bill Aims to Create US University Commission
A plan to standardize higher education proposes a ten member United States university commission under the Interior Department with a president appointee and salaries. The draft calls for economic, efficient education and seeks donor-supported United States and research scholarships, with power to approve postgraduate degrees and suspend degrees that fail to meet standards. The measure envisions a possible District University of the United States and outlines funding for investigation and oversight of schools both in and outside the District, pending Board of Trade approval before Congress.
