California Senate Debate on 48-Hour Week Squelched by Commission
Reports from Washington show California officials propose hotel relief staff to enforce a six day work week and eight hour day for women. The plan would allocate one relieving employee per six regular workers to limit women to 42 hours weekly and grant one day off. The commission cites Representative Peters and Maud Younger in support while noting questions of constitutional validity.
