Three Girls Drowned at Star Lake Beach

In Watertown New York on June 27 three young women from the area drowned while bathing at Star Lake. Alice Burgess 18 and Jennie Burgess 17, sisters, and Mabel Love from Gouverneur were employed as domestics at Star Lake Hotel. They went beyond their depth and failed to return.

In Montclair New Jersey June 27 Patrick Henry a cat owned by Michaelson witnessed a bulldog kill Bounce a companion. The cat then protected its yard by darting at approaching cars and later leaping onto a speeding automobile to avenge Bounce.
