Ice Prices Steady As 29 000 Tons On Hand In Washington

Washington merchants report ample ice supply with 29 000 tons on hand and 10 000 more due soon. Dealers expect no price rise if weather stays mild, keeping the 5 cent per 12 pound piece through summer. Some warn a hotter spell could raise costs for smaller buyers, but wholesale conditions and plentiful supply suggest no immediate increases. Local firms affirm prices likely to hold in New York and here, with no advance needed unless extreme heat drives higher demand.
