Walter Reed Soldiers Oppose 14th Street Car Extension
Col. J. D. Glennan, commanding officer at Walter Reed hospital, says patients oppose extending the Fourteenth street car line through the grounds. Men write Congress and the Red Cross protesting the plan, citing danger to crippled veterans and late night noise that cannot be eliminated even with subgrade tracks. The Walter Reed Hospital Post of the American Legion also passes a resolution opposing the extension.

Warns industries to check waste at luncheon forum
W Wallace executive secretary of the American Engineering council urged American industry to cut waste to compete with Europe without hurting purchasing power. He cited surveys showing up to 50 percent efficiency in some sectors and noted massive losses from underused equipment, disjointed buyers and manufacturers, and poor organization. He pointed to clothing and building industries as prime examples, with 38 percent of New York State strikes in 1919 occurring there.
