Panic on a Washington car as flames envelop passengers

A traction car explosion in Washington sent four women and two men injured as flames engulfed the car. Passengers fled in terror while the motorman stayed at his post. A physician cared for the injured and they were taken to their homes.

Grover Poole Convicted of Murder in Port Washington

Grover Cleveland Foole, tried for the murder of James O'Hara in Port Washington last August, was found guilty of murder in the second degree. Poole took the verdict coolly, amid witnesses including Mrs O'Hara and daughter Gertrude. He remarked, I guess that will hold me for a while, as he was led to the cell. Sentencing set for Tuesday next.
