Abrogation of Harriman Rock Island Plan in 1904

New York June 14 The 1904 agreement dividing control of the Chicago and Alton Railroad between Harriman interests and the Rock Island Company has been abrogated by mutual consent. Stockholders will now manage the property with no change in policy. Rock Island still holds heavy representation on the board while Harriman interests remain influential. Attorney General Stead of Illinois criticized Harriman management, noting a large indebtedness increase and operations not tied to legitimate railroad purposes.
