Dry Weather Route Best to Mount Vernon Tourist View

The Washington Post pathfinders report two main roads from Washington to Mount Vernon. The dry weather route via brick yards offers quicker access but dull scenery, while the wet weather route travels longer yet provides a scenic hilltop view of Washington. Both routes meet near the railroad bridge and remain muddy near the entrance gates depending on conditions. A return trip from The Past Building to Mount Vernon took about one hour in a Jefferson-Hesterfield Hour car with three passengers.
