Senate Reopens Lorimer Case With Eight Member Subcommittee

The Senate voted to reopen the Lorimer case by a 1 to 1 margin, tasking a Privileges and Elections subcommittee of eight to conduct the inquiry. Members include Dillingham, Gamble, Fletcher, Johnston, Clapp, Kenyon, Kern, and Lea, with new lawmakers joining since the prior session. The move preserves a bipartisan, informal agreement to shift real work to the subcommittee, while the full committee can marshal Senate machinery as needed. The seven-hour debate ended in support of this plan, despite Bristow’s accusations of political maneuvering. Adjournment followed until Monday afternoon.
