Miller Pleads Exemption in Contempt Case Over Books
J Barton Miller answered the court demanding why he should not be held in contempt for not delivering books and papers of the First Cooperative Building and Loan Association of Georgetown to Receiver Ambrose. He cites constitutional self incrimination rights while the receiver’s attorneys say the exemption applies only to witnesses, not individuals in his position. Miller claims illness since July 1 and says he has been bedbound, with no copy of July 1 order served. The judge took the matter under advisement and may delay until September 9 after consulting counsel.
