New York July 21 Joseph Adams twenty years old surrendered to police admitting he killed his cousin Henry Schmitzler in front of Schmitzler’s home in Richmond Hill Queens Borough after an alleged quarrel over alleged defaming letters to Adams wife and recent marriage. Wingut Wins 69-Mile Ride In 9 Hours At Helmont Park

Harry K Wingut, owner of racehorses, won a $1000 bet with broker Edward Norton by riding 69 miles in 9 hours 23 minutes at Helmont Park after starting at 4 40 am. Norton wagered that a non trained man could not ride 10 miles in 24 hours. Wingut finished within hours, then resumed riding later for a total time of 12 hours 48 minutes including rests.

President Roosevelt Attends Presbyterian Church Service

Special to The Washington Post Oyster Bay July 2 President and Mrs Roosevelt joined the Presbyterian congregation to hear Rev Charles L Thompson secretary of the Presbyterian Board of Home Missions. The service was led by Rev Alex G Russell and a collection supported the board. The church was decorated with American flags and many followed the President to his new place of worship. Elizabeth Case, known for seeking Mrs Roosevelt on a rumored mission, sat at the rear and did not speak as the Roosevelts left.

Inwood Bathers Survive 1000 Strong Squall Rescue
