NEW BRANCH POST OFFICE OPENING IN DOWNTOWN WASHINGTON

Postmaster Meritt O Chance plans a large downtown branch at B14 Eleventh Street NW to open by October. Howard Beall will lead the station, with John H Simmons as assistant superintendent, reflecting a bid to move business from the old city post office to a sprawling new facility serving Ninth to Fifteenth Streets and Pennsylvania Avenue.
