A deadly storm hits Georgia City and Chicago area with violent winds and lightning. Frank S Webb aged sixty two dies from porch fall injuries after a dispute with his wife who allegedly pushed him. Inquest witnesses describe pushing from a railing and other storm damage includes widespread outages and structural damage.
Train notice advertises $4 round trip tickets for seniors and return to various resort destinations. It lists specific trains and days, including Tuesday inclusives and Friday Saturday excursions via Pennsylvania Railroad. Tickets are valid for return until the following Tuesday and cover Wildwood Ocean City Atlantic City Cape May routes.

Custom dictates no one eats rotating ears until after the dance, a long held superstition observed by full bloods. Dances attract 50 to 100 attendees, sometimes up to 800 or 600 for large celebrations. Feasts follow daily dances with corn boiled from the cob, beef and pork served, and portions shared on the ground. Records in Federal jails note progress of these dances.
The American Fisheries Society in Washington awarded Dr. H. M. Smith as president with Taunton Hyman as vice president and C. W. Wyland as treasurer. Report from Atlanta Georgia describes a crate of eggs driven along a street. Inside the crate twelve newly hatched chickens were found and appeared healthy, much to the astonishment of a passing store worker. The event occurred in broad daylight, with the driver nearly dropping the crate upon hearing peeps from the eggs.
In Philadelphia on July 25 disturbances erupted as women led a boycott of kosher butchers over meat prices. Stores were looted and meat tossed into streets as police struggled to disperse crowds. Dozens were arrested or jailed for assault and rioting while wholesalers faced pressure to cut prices.

A stay was granted by Supreme Court Justice Dayton in Manhattan pending final determination of the appeal for a certificate of reasonable doubt. The motion was argued by attorney David H Hunt with a hearing set for next Monday. If successful Frank may be discharged and higher courts will review the conviction. High army officials allied with Brig Gen Frank reportedly seek bail pending the certificate.
New York July reports say Str Hien and Mazin, allied with the administration ticket, resigned from the Mutual Life Insurance Company board of trustees. Pressure of other business was cited as the reason. Ralph Peters, president of the Long Island Railroad, declined to serve, creating another vacancy on the board.
Phineas A. Spencer Cleveland millionaire leaves Mary Costello his housekeeper twenty two thousand dollars and other bequests totaling near a million. Beneficiaries include Mrs J Wood of Buffalo and Mrs Harry Wood at ten thousand each and Miss Alice Camp of Cleveland four thousand. The probate notes convey a broad distribution to household staff and relatives amid details of banks and cities.
Morning battle near Fort Washington and Fort Hunt saw Admiral Stratton’s fleet engage land troops and naval batteries. Three gunboats approached from the Maryland shore under cover of darkness, while forts Washington and Hunt returned heavy fire, a sharp night action ending with the fleet’s partial setback but land forces achieving a complete victory in daylight.
