John E Doyle, a 35 year old man claiming Jesuit ties, confessed to swindling Catholic priests in Washington by posing as a religious helper seeking funds for rail fare to New York. Police describe him as a trained bookkeeper with liquor cravings, who exploited clerics under false pretenses before his arrest at St Augustine's Church.
