Tragic Marquette Road Wreck Kills Dozens In Ionia Outing
A high speed wreck on the Marquette line near Ionia Michigan during an annual shopmen’s outing left thirty one dead and seventy five injured. Freight orders forgotten by crews caused a collision that crushed six passenger coaches and hurled many victims from the cars. Victims included women and children from Ionia and nearby towns.
