John McGregor, builder, outlines a three story brick residence with red sandstone trimmings for Charlies E. Marlatt on the northeast corner of Sixteenth and Church. Architect L Norris designs a 48 by 19 foot frontage with mahogany drawing room and dining room, quartered oak hall and study, and private baths in four beds on floor two and two beds plus five servant rooms on floor three. Norris also plans a 50 by 66 foot addition to McKim Manual Training School on Seventh street. J D Coughlan buys a frame house at auction on Th street NW for 1.80. Edward J. Brown buys a brick dwelling at 702 22nd street NW. Fire hearing on garage permit scheduled in room 339. Applications for a garage permit are noted for New Hampshire avenue west of M street north. Leon Pohlman a ladies' tailor with a shop and home at 1015 Fifteenth Street northwest ended his life with gas early yesterday morning. His young daughter Elsie found him near death and doctors worked to save him but he died. Once a well known tailor his business declined, eight children and a chronically ill wife added stress. He was past grand master of Arminion Lodge F A M and treasurer of the Mannerchor.
