Dr Gallegos left overland toward Puerto Barrios with intent to reach Washington as an envoy for Salvador. Senor Juice sailed toward Mexico by steamer, believed bound for Washington. Rumors of a Mexico conference circulate, but no proof exists. Guatemala holds sway in Central American politics with strong ties to Salvador and greater resources. A charge d affaires will soon be sent from Salvador to Mexico. Guatemala City remains unchanged as Costa Rica is urged to join in regional affairs.
The State Department reports unconfirmed tips that Guatemala and El Salvador have aligned to mobilize troops to deter any attack by Nicaragua. No ministers confirm renewed hostilities though Costa Rica is viewed as possibly opposed to Zelaya’s federation plan.

Fred Wilson a Negro shot and killed Early Smart after Smart intervened as a group of small boys was threatened. The killer fled but posse units formed and searched. He was found hiding in an empty barrel under a warehouse and fired on the moment of capture. Wilson, described as Seminole Indian, from Brockett, Texas, died in the incident.
A moth cloud covered the tracks near Port Arthur delaying the Lake Superior Limited. The Ottawa bound service halted for about two hours as crew cleared the line and resumed travel after the obstruction was removed.
A quarrel after a baseball game in Wilkins Township ends in the death of 20 year old Fred Slagel from a stab wound to the heart. A warrant is sworn for August Cline, the man Slagel quarreled with. Cline has not been seen since the incident.

The body of one year old Charles Sweaty of Battle Creek drowned near Allendale as a balloon ascent drew a crowd. The balloonist Harry Laptide declined to ride. W E Martin replaced him but parachute failed at about 1500 feet, and the swimmer struck water several yards from shore. Two fishermen attempted rescue but could not find the body.
