Market rates hold despite circulating lower claim
Row cit reports that today the money market rate remained unchanged at 9 percent. A circulated claim that the rate for that class of funds had fallen from 9 to 8 percent was unfounded. No money was offered and the bid stood at 9 percent.
Belgian 71 25 rise to new high price
Prices for liberty bonds and victory notes fell about 40 cents amid a general trading day with high money rates seen as a barrier to gains. Belgian government 7½% bonds rose to a new high above 100 while Swiss 8% bonds showed strength and railroad and industrial issues fluctuated. National City Bank plans to raise capital to 40 million and foreign exchange rates shift to cents per unit.
