Lawson life term after denied new trial in Colorado murder case
Trinidad Colorado July 12 John R B Lawson labor leader convicted of first degree murder for the death of deputy Nimmo during 1918 strike violence was denied a new trial by Judge Granty Hillyer and will appeal to the state supreme court. He was sentenced to life at hard labor and defended as the victim of a corporation controlled prosecution and a hand picked jury.

Big submarine for Spain from Fore River shipyard
Wane reports a 750 ton submarine contract closed by Fore River Shipbuilding Corporation for the Spanish navy. Construction will begin at once. The submarine will sail at 15 knots on the surface and 11 knots submerged, and will have directive torpedo tubes and rapid fire guns. It will resemble submarines currently built for the United States Navy.

Stahl changes his plea in perjury indictment
