Parisian salons shift from talk to betting and travel

In Paris, elite encounters once filled with wit now center on bridge in grand salons or hotels, mirroring American habits. Aristrocrats invite guests rarely at home, preferring reception rooms in hotels with service staff. The trend echoes a Waldorf in New York and a Washington Palace in Paris as social life moves toward public venues and nouveau amusements.
