The Law and the Glove: Haberdaster Etiquette Notes
London Correspondente explains gloves in English usage. In warm weather a jacket suit often omits gloves, but men carry gloves in one hand. With frock coats at least one glove is worn, usually on the left hand when only one. At royal levees or kingly stag receptions the right glove is removed. handshakes may occur with a bare hand, but not with royalty. Inside at levees gloves are typically removed upon entering.
