Shades Bid on Year's Coal Supply for District
Baldwin Johnson won the coal contract for the fiscal year ending June 1 196 on about 100000, after bids were reopened when prices were deemed too high. Only two bids remained, one irregular. Johnson’s bid matched last year’s, and he agreed to reduce stove coal to 6.60 and furnace coal to 6.00 per ton while the district monitors bunker stock and maintains an inspector during bad weather.
