Peril Lies in Egypt Speech Warns of Unrest and Extreme Measures

London July 8 Sir Edward Grey warned that the Tantah attack on British officers shows fanatical unrest in Egypt and that preserving Lord Cromer authority may compel extreme measures. He cautioned Parliament not to weaken the Egyptian government or risk a harsher crisis. McMonigle Frostbite Incident At Ammonia Tank Fire Plant

In Philadelphia on a hot July day William McMonigle suffered severe frostbite after an ammonia tank leak at the Consumers Evening Company works on Hourth Street below Poplar. He was cooling repairs when a vessel opened and spilled hundreds of gallons of ammonia, freezing his arms and injuring his face. He was taken to St Maris Aespirat for treatment as surgeons assess extensive exposure.

Two Rescued From Sea After Barge Sinks Near Long Island

Captain Robert Monrichen of the Kingston and his crippled eighteen year old son clung to wreckage for an hour after the barge sank off Long Island following a leak. Deckhand Fred Williams drowned. The tug Edward Luckenbach arrived at Providence with the survivors. Captain Monrichen's home is in Brooklyn. The barge departed Norfolk July 1 towing three barges for this port.

Jacob Boyer bled to death after a revolver discharged while he struck a dog with its butt to stop its escape during July Fourth celebrations. The accidental shot struck the man in the abdomen as he attempted to control the animal.

Groton Pupil Twombly Drowns While Swimming at Asquam Lake

Ashland N H July 5. Ti Mok Twombly eighteen son of H Mck Twombly a New York Newport capitalist drowned at Big Asquam Lake six miles from Ashland while swimming from Groton School camp toward Carns Cove about a mile distant. He had planned to enter Harvard next fall. His mother is Miss Florence Vanderbilt of New York and Newport.

Grover Cleveland Ill After Sudden Illness at Princeton

Special to The Washington Post reports Grover Cleveland returned from Buzzards Bay to Princeton and was attacked suddenly but is resting easily. Dr John M Carnechan attends him. a later note says his illness is not serious though appendicitis rumors circulated. Cleveland canceled engagements and was in Princeton as of July 5.

Explosion in Garage in New York injures three

Three men were burned and one unconscious after an explosion and fire at an automobile garage along Broadway. One man suffered injuries from flying debris and was said to have doubtful recovery. Trestle Collapse Near Shire Oaks Causes Fatalities

A timber trestle over a ravine at Shire Oaks near Monongahela collapsed today, sending a carload and six men to the ground forty feet below.
