Convention Reports as Heard Over Radio Interference
A denver international convention session in Madison Square Garden, New York, is tracked by radio with times in Washington and New York zones. The broadcast covers opening invocations, readings of the Declaration and Jefferson passages, roll calls, ballot shifts, and multiple adjournments as delegates debate when to resume. Interference from Potomac Electric Power Company’s experimental station disrupts crystal and tube radios during key vote exchanges, with McAdoo, Smith, and others gaining and losing support across numerous ballots as the convention adjourns into the night.
