Tales of lofty tumbles in the london tit bits

The piece details a string of extraordinary survivals from extreme falls and balloon disasters. It cites a rustic who broke his neck after slipping a gate, an Italian aeronaut who fell 1000 feet with only a sprained ankle, and Mme Morel and her daughter who survived a 140 foot Alpine fall though the mother died. It recounts Whymper’s near miss on the Matterhorn, a Chicago sleepte jack’s fall saved by telegraph wires, and Charles Woolcot’s dramatic 3000 foot chute escape after parachute failure. It concludes with Mr Wise’s balloon burst drop from 12 000 feet turning into a parachute descent and a violent earth strike, yet the aeronaut survives with vivid, incredulous detail.

Scientist claims heart disease cured by increasing vital power

A Washington scientist, Andrew McConnell, asserts heart trouble stems from low vital power rather than heart weakness. He claims cures come from boosting the body's electric vital force and warns against standard medicines like digitalis, arguing treatment should focus on generating more power to drive the heart. He offers courses at the Ideé Spectricity Institute in Washington and notes many patients improved after applying these methods.
