Protest Overruled In Hospital Kitchen Contract Bid
Delegates from the Central Labor Union and Sheet Metal Workers Union protested a planned contract for installing four kitchens at a tuberculosis hospital. They argued the Philadelphia bidder would violate labor hours laws, creating unfair competition with local firms. Commissioner Macfarland heard the audit testimony on financial responsibility of the lowest bidder and indicated the decision would hinge on that factor.
