Protest Overruled in Hospital Kitchen Bid Case
A protest against awarding a contract for installing four kitchens at a tuberculosis hospital, filed by P J Ryan of the Central Labor Union and Thomas T Ryan of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, was presented yesterday to the Commissioners. They argued that lower hours for a Philadelphia firm would undermine local bidders. Commissioner Macfarland asked the auditor to testify on the financial responsibility of the lowest bidder, with a ruling possible to award to the lowest responsible bidder if no challenge to the Philadelphia firm’s finances is found.
