New Gunnery Records Reported For Haet Nebrasketta At Manila
Reports indicate naval gunnery set new marks during target practice by the battleship Nebraska at Manila Bay on November 12. Despite incomplete official records, the event suggests a world record for 12 inch guns may have been surpassed. Practice featured firing from the after turret while ships faced 3 to 6 degree roll. A newly designed towed target, a solid timber long cutter, simulates an enemy vessel with its weighted keel bottom and limited above water structure to ease shot impact and screen firing.
