Soldier Freedman Sentenced For Robbery and Concealed Weapon
Sydney K. Freedman, alleged Marine deserter, received nine months in jail after being charged with carrying concealed weapons and stealing a watch from James Alien of the Soldiers Home. He was fined but unpaid, and authorities ordered transfer to Washington Bar racks after imprisonment. A police witness saw a revolver while Freedman tried on a coat, leading to his arrest. His wife, not yet married 24 hours, failed to appear in court. Charles Matthews, a colored man, faced grand jury action after assaulting Officer Gray. Matthews and others allegedly fired revolvers and later struck Gray with a rock. Gray was hospitalized at the Emergency Hospital.

Justice Gould of the District Supreme Court refused to modify the order barring the American Federation of Labor from listing Buck's Stove and Range Company on boycott notices. The ruling prompts appeals from unions who say the injunction limits speech and press. The decision also enjoins the Carriage and Wagon Workers International and its officers from disrupting William H. Lawton’s business and bars Local No 8 Bakers and Confectioners Union from targeting John Henderson.
