Inquest Finds Blame On Rail Officials For King Death

The seven day coroner inquest into Theodore L King’s death near Terra Cotta, District of Columbia, on December 1908 concluded that train No 84 and extra 2120 of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad collided due to operator Dutrow’s improper signal. It blamed several officials and crews for lapses in rule enforcement, recommended 24 hour operation of block signals, and held Dutrow primarily responsible while listing others with lesser liability.
