Maryland Fire Alarm and Local Clergy Activities
An Annapolis fire alarm caused by a chimney blaze at a saloon occupied by Louis Heer was quickly contained with minimal damage. In Cumberland Valley, Rev. Mr. Shortz marked his 50th pastorate anniversary in Hagerstown, while evangelistic series began at First Christian Church led by Dr. HR Crossfield and Prof. J. B. Sturgis. A series also opened at First Baptist Church with Rev. E K Thomas assisted by Rev. S. W. Cele. Farm sales included Melvin T. Spessard selling a Ii acre farm near Chenaville for 1149J, J. O. Snyder selling to Homer J. Cavanaugh a 215 acre Williams farm in Indiana Springs district for 7.84, and Albert C Martin selling to Clarence E. Huffer an area farm near Leitersburg for 6788. Talbot county fur trade is expected to reach about 310% of normal, with pelts of rabbits, raccoons, muskrats, and mink. McCalls Ferry reports suggest the great dam withstands ice rushes, ending fears of a flood like last winter, signaling possible end to further damage.
