Amends unwritten law in Virginia legislature
Richmond Virginia January 6 Delegate Alden Bell of Culpeper will introduce a bill in the current session to allow the state to admit evidence in unwritten law cases dis proving assault. The measure follows the Lover Waters and Estes tragedies. Under existing law a man who kills over an assault information, whether true or false, is often acquitted. Bell's bill aims to check the correctness of such information before unwritten law can be pleaded as justification for killing.
