Remove All Fences as Hitchcock Orders Enforced
The President approves a circular by Secretary Hitchcock ordering rigid enforcement after April 1, 1907 of the 1885 act to destroy illegal inclosures on public lands. Special agents and receivers must act to remove privately built fences before April 1, or have them torn down by government officials. Roosevelt letters support modification to allow grazing leases under conditions, urging a lawful solution.
