Michael Karolyi, a leading opposition member, was badly wounded by Count Stephan Tisza, speaker of the lower house, in a duel with Count Stephan Tisza in Budapest. The fight lasted an hour with 32 bouts, ending only from exhaustion. Tisza also cut in the hand. the dispute stemmed from a political quarrel and did not end in reconciliation.

Boise Idaho January 2 contrast Three men Sheridan Broxson and Cruzen publishers editor and local capitalist were jailed for ten days and fined five hundred dollars each for contempt of the Idaho Supreme Court over criticizing its ballot ruling.
